Ask any accomplished person that you know about their secret to success, and you will most likely start to hear a trending answer...continuous learning. Staying hungry for more knowledge about the topics you are passionate about, will not only keep you from being stagnant, but they will expand your thinking and your ability to deliver on promises made to yourself for any goal you have.
STAYING CURIOUS MATTERS
I went on a run this morning and started listening to my new favorite podcast, RISE, with Rachel Hollis. In episode #75, she talks about daily habits with the high-performance coach, Brendon Burchard. And what struck me was the way that Brendon approaches goals and goal-setting. Since it's the time of year when we reflect on where we are and where we want to be, I intently listened as Brendon spoke about challenging his clients to think beyond task-oriented goals ("I want to lose 15 pounds," or "I want to read every day."). Instead, he encourages thinking about where and who you want to be in 3-5 years. Once you can visualize that, work backward and write down the skills you need to get there. Make attaining those skills your goals. Interesting, right? I'll be reading Brendon's book, "High-Performance Habits: How Extraordinary People Become That Way," to understand this concept in more detail, but this example is the power of continuous learning. In one morning, with a specific intention to stay curious and spend time developing my knowledge of business and growth, I was able to think about and approach the popular tradition of setting goals for the New Year, in a completely different way.
OUR GIFT TO YOU
Customer Experience (CX) is an ever-evolving topic (one that we particularly love). Yet, at its core, the goal is to know, understand, and build for your customers, patients, guests, and clients. We take that same approach with our clients and put together a calendar for 2020 with monthly recommendations for events, books, and podcasts that we enjoy and think can help you become more customer-centric in any role or industry.
We will post our recommendations here each month and update them regularly, but we also provided a download if you'd like to have the whole calendar now.

LET'S START AT THE BEGINNING - OUR JANUARY RECOMMENDATIONS
To kick off your 2020 CX development, check out Mary Drumond's podcast, Voices of Customer Experience. We recommend starting with the most recent episode (S4E14) because it's all about mindset and what better way to launch into the New Year than with a fresh perspective?
We also recommend the book "Delivering Happiness: A Path to Profit, Passion and Purpose," by the CEO of Zappos, Tony Hsieh. This book is a great way to understand how a focus on your team is the path to a focus on your customers.
At this moment, 2020 and beyond is an entirely blank canvas, and we can't wait to keep helping our clients collect the feedback they need to build the business their customers WANT. Cheers to the New Year!
